1. Who we are
Dua Marriage Companion (“Dua”, “we”, “us”) is a DuaDesk product operated by Ashish Dua Consulting Corporation, a corporation based in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. For the purposes of India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”), we are the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described here. Contact: ashish@ashishduacorporation.com · +91 98995 73717.
2. What this notice covers
This notice covers marriage.duadesk.com and its pages and apps: the landing page and its request form, sign-up, sign-in, the Companion, the journey map, moment cards, the planning tools, guided sessions, check-ins and recaps, and the ceremony screens. Our Terms & Conditions also apply.
3. What we collect
- Account details: each partner’s name, email address and, if given, phone number; your relationship stage, preferred language, wedding date and similar sign-up details.
- Your consents: your acceptance of the Terms and this notice, the version, date, time and IP address, and every share you make (your consent log).
- What you write and create: reflections, answers, notes, conversation inputs, check-ins, journey-map steps and dates, moment cards, ceremony and tradition choices, and any photos or voice notes you add.
- Planning information you choose to enter: for example citizenship and residence for cross-border planning, or financial information in Dua Arth. Please enter only what you are comfortable sharing; during the beta, do not enter real financial figures or identity documents.
- Questions you ask Dua and the AI’s replies.
- Guided sessions: booking details, and the recaps and summaries a counsellor reviews and shares with you.
- Safety signals: if something you write suggests risk of harm, a private record that help was offered and the Dua team was alerted.
- Sign-in and security records: one-time codes (stored only in scrambled form), sign-in sessions, device type, IP address and an audit trail of sign-in events.
- Requests to join: what you enter in the landing-page form (names, email, phone or WhatsApp, city and country, where you are on the journey, your note).
We do not collect Aadhaar or other government ID numbers, precise location, your contacts, or data from your social-media accounts.
4. Why we use it
- To create and secure your account, approve sign-ups, and sign you in with email codes.
- To run the Companion for the two of you: show your reflections, what your partner shares, your journey map, tools and memories.
- To answer your questions with AI guides, prepare drafts (such as conversation summaries) and have people review them.
- To arrange guided sessions and share the recaps you are meant to see.
- To keep people safe: to show helplines and let our team reach out if something suggests danger.
- To send the emails the service needs: invitations, sign-in codes, approvals and replies to your requests.
- To keep the service secure, prevent misuse, and meet our legal obligations.
We do not use your data for advertising, we do not build profiles to sell, and we never sell your data.
5. Your consent
We process your personal data on the basis of your consent, given when you sign up or sign in and accept this notice and the Terms. Each partner consents for themself. You can withdraw consent at any time by writing to us; we will then stop processing and delete your data as described in section 11, except where the law requires us to keep something. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that happened before it. In a genuine emergency involving risk to someone’s life or safety, we may act without consent where the DPDP Act allows it.
6. Who can see what
- You: everything you create.
- Your partner: only what you choose to share, plus the parts that belong to both of you by design (the journey map, agreed dates and steps, and moment cards you both approve). Once your partner has seen something you shared, we cannot make them un-see it.
- Our team: account and approval details, sign-in records, safety alerts, items you send for review (such as drafts awaiting approval), and what you choose to share with a counsellor. Our team does not read your private reflections or your private journey notes.
- Counsellors and guides: only what you or your session require, and only for that session.
- Ceremony guests: if you share your ceremony guest link, guests see only the live ceremony screen, nothing private.
- Authorities: only when the law requires it, for example under a valid legal order.
7. Service providers
We use a small number of carefully chosen providers to run Dua Marriage Companion. Each is bound by contract to use your data only to provide their service to us, to keep it secure, and to delete it when no longer needed:
- Database and file storage: hosted in the Mumbai (India) region.
- Hosting: for our website and the server that runs the service.
- AI: to draft answers and summaries. Only the text needed for a request is sent, and it is not used to train public AI models.
- Email delivery: to send sign-in codes, invitations and replies.
You can ask us for the current list of providers at any time by writing to ashish@ashishduacorporation.com.
8. Where data is stored
Your account data is stored in India (Mumbai). Some providers above process data outside India, for example to generate an AI reply or deliver an email. Such transfers are made only as permitted under the DPDP Act and with contractual safeguards.
9. How long we keep it
- Your account and what you create: for as long as your account is active, and until you ask us to delete it.
- One-time sign-in codes: they expire after 10 minutes. Sign-in sessions last up to 30 days unless you sign out.
- Requests to join that do not lead to an account: up to 12 months.
- Sign-in and security records and the consent log: up to 3 years after your account closes, so we can show what you agreed to and protect the service, unless the law requires longer.
- Backups: removed in the normal backup cycle, within 30 days of deletion.
10. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you have the right to:
- get a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it, and the identities of those we have shared it with;
- have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected, completed or updated;
- have your data erased (see section 11);
- withdraw your consent;
- nominate another person to exercise your rights if you die or become incapacitated;
- have your grievances addressed by us, and, if you are not satisfied, complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
To use any of these rights, write to ashish@ashishduacorporation.com from the email address on your account.
11. Deleting your data
Write to us asking to delete your account. Your partner’s own data stays theirs; what you shared with them will be removed from your side. We will confirm when deletion is done, normally within 30 days, apart from records the law requires us to keep, which we keep only for as long as required.
12. Security
Sign-in needs a one-time code sent to your own email; sessions are stored only in scrambled form and can be revoked on every device. Data is encrypted in transit, database tables are closed to direct public access, and access by our team is limited and logged. No system is perfectly secure; if a personal-data breach occurs, we will inform you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
13. Safety and the law
If something you write suggests danger to you or someone else, we show emergency helplines (112, 181 Women Helpline, 14416 Tele-MANAS) and may alert our team so a person can reach out to you privately. We will not tell your partner about a safety concern you raise.
14. Age
Dua Marriage Companion is for adults. Both partners must be 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect data from children; if we learn that we have, we delete it.
15. Storage on your device
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser stores a small sign-in key and your language choice so you stay signed in and see Dua in your language. Signing out removes the sign-in key.
16. Changes to this notice
If we make a material change, we will show the new version and, where needed, ask for your consent again. The version and date are at the top of this page.
